Message of Dominique from New Zealand

"We are now on our way for the last details.
The coach roof is on place, so all the important parts which are carbon made are finished. There is still an immense list of small laminated details that has to be realised and supervised. The keel will arrive soon and the big hydraulic rams will arrive a bit delayed, so the launched date is now the 6th of June.

A lot of work is still on the way everywhere in the boat, and in the same time, the painting is one of the big jobs that part of the workers is doing overnight; Last week end was totally commissioned at the hull painting, and some interior finishing are urgent inside.

The interior is really conceived for single head sailing, so life is now difficult for the lamination, sending, adjustments that several workers are doing in such a narrow place! We still have to install electricity, electronics and informatics on board, which mean’s some more people working inside. But no more dust, please!

Dagger boards and rudders arrive yesterday, but we have to wait till the hull painting will be dry enough to lift the boat to fit the rudders in place. We can feel the general tension in the yard now, everyone is aware of the finishing dates and dead-lines and realise that is still a lot to do.

The yard has to plan a lot of extra hours to maintain the schedule, which makes the management a bit nervous. We are keeping all parts under control, which use 100% of our time, and some more! It’s fascinating to see the boat emerging from dust to the perfect and glossy finish of the painting, and all the pieces ready everywhere fitting on place to complete the boat.

This period is definitely a busy one; all mistake or forgetfulness will be disastrous at this stage. Winter is here, the cold don’t help the drying of the paint and lamination, there are heaters everywhere on top and below deck.

Hopefully, we are still looking forward for the sea trials around the 17th of June...."
